Literature Text

Despite having only just met the boy, Kurt couldn't help but feel flattered. He never got guys randomly approaching him, complimenting him on his outfits or admiring his taste in music, not ever. So when Chandler had appeared, as if from nowhere, with a fancy for his custom-made brooch, Kurt found his cheeks flushing, unable to keep a smile from his lips.
Chandler was talking hyperactively about some record or another, but Kurt was not listening to what he was saying. The pure energy and enthusiasm that clung to the boy like an aura was fascinating, and Kurt felt his heart beat a little faster as he was enveloped by the boy's infectious spirit. Just being around this guy…it made Kurt feel alive.
"Can I have your number?"
The question lingered in the air between them; Chandler's face was still alight with happiness, but Kurt's smile had faded a little at those words. Glancing to the side, Kurt thought deeply. It was clear that Chandler held certain affections for him, so would it be wrong to lead him on by exchanging numbers? What would start as a bit of innocent texting could turn into something much more serious, especially when Kurt barely knew the guy to begin with.
Sighing, Kurt pulled his phone out of his pocket, turning to the beaming Chandler. The boy had already dived into his bag to retrieve his cell, and was now holding it expectantly, waiting for Kurt to pass on his number with a keen smile.
And yet, at that very moment, the phone in Kurt's hand buzzed, alerting him to a new message. Jumping a little in fright, Kurt turned away slightly as he peered down at the screen, reading the name which was displayed there. As soon as his eyes passed over that familiar name, Kurt's heart swelled with such affection that all thoughts concerning the blonde haired boy disappeared. Blaine.

'Hello, Kurt. I know this is unscheduled, but I just wanted to tell you how much you mean to me. I managed to cancel that meeting I had, fancy meeting up in a few minutes? Lima Bean?
All my love, Blaine.
'

Kurt read over the text a few times, letting the loving words sink into his heart. It was true that Blaine had not texted him in a long time, and had been getting increasingly more distant over the past weeks. But all worry that his boyfriend was slipping away from his was dismissed as he read over the text once again.
Turning back to the eagerly waiting Chandler, Kurt returned his phone to his pocket, and offered an apologetic smile.
"Sorry Chandler, I don't think so. I've only just met you, and I don't think I like where this is going between us. You see, have a boyfriend."
Picturing Blaine's beautiful face and shining smile, Kurt turned away from Chandler without another word, not even pausing long enough to see the disappointment cross that youthful face. He had a boyfriend. He had Blaine.
I wrote this super quick, super short fiction in response to 'Dance with Somebody'. How much Klangst would have been avoided if this had happened? How many tears would have been spared? Gahh...
